State Councilor Wang Yong visited Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province in Southwest China, where he stressed that private sectors would be encouraged and supported to take part in care service industries to create better services for senior citizens and disabled people.

During his visit, Wang emphasized that local governments should attach greater importance to the livelihoods of poor and disabled people and help them have a better quality of life.

Private sectors can be introduced to elderly care service industries with government support to meet the needs of society.

In addition, private sectors and the market can play an effective role in developing a care service system in which government could buy services from social sectors.

The government will encourage and support social organizations, charity institutions, and volunteers to provide help and services for the disabled in rehabilitation, employment, and skills training.

Wang also visited a museum specializing in disaster prevention and mitigation education, where he said that knowledge and skills to cope with disasters should be advocated for the security of people’s lives and property.
